Children's Book Author

Expat British Indian, born in Kenya, brought up in the UK and based in Dubai gave Nishita Hitesh Bhayani an insight into varied cultures, lifestyles and traditions. Having worked in schools with children for over 10 years, her passion for working with children made her want to write books representing UAE’s multicultural atmosphere.

I love and cherish books and have always taught my own children that books should be handled gently and treated with respect. To me an ideal book for children is one that is interactive and illustrated; it tells a story and yet in a subtle manner educates and engages the growing mind. Books also create bonds between teacher-student, parent-child and siblings.
My love for reading and presenting to children is an inherent part of my nature. Every moment spent in this activity is precious for me. Verbal storytelling and creating experiences around it was first introduced to by my mother. I continued this tradition; first in various voices with a range of actions reading to my own children and then through presentations at schools and libraries. I got together with like minded illustrator Leilani Coughlan and found myself wanting to document the stories I had created for my family. I felt a coming together of the Expi The Elephant- a Three Part Series.

‘Expi the Elephant goes to Dubai’ is the first in this series and is tailored for children 4 to 7 years. It can be read in conjunction with the Expi song and a Toy Box with objects from the book! Nishita does inter active readings with a Q and A session to engage children.
In the second book Expi is traveling to India and the third book is Kenya!
